EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Indonesia is paving the way toward a sustainable future by aiming to meet its SDGs target; including NDCs emissions reduction by 29% with its own effort and 41% with international support by 2030. In doing so, the government hopes to promote Green Economy as a strategy to spur sustainable economic growth, while at the same time protecting the environment through Low Carbon and Climate Resilience policies.
The Green Economy is also expected to achieve Indonesia’s goal to escape the middle-income trap before 2045. The low-carbon and climate resilience policies have been incorporated in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024.
The Low Carbon development covers 5 main strategies i.e., Waste Management & Circular Economy; Green Industry Development; Sustainable Energy Development; Low-Carbon Marine & Coastal Areas; and Sustainable Land Recovery. In the meantime, the Climate Resilience focuses on four key sectors: Marine & Coastal Sector; Water Sector; Agricultural Sector; and Health Sector.
